Master your Technique.
Mastermind believes that making coffee is more of an art than a science. The fill lines help people make a great coffee quickly, but ultimately you should tweak for your own taste buds.
The tumbler fill line for water results in 23oz (670g) of water. This should be used when brewing concentrate to avoid overflow during prep.
You can add an additional 1-2oz of water a few minutes later after the grounds soak up water.
This fill line is used for Loose Leaf Tea.
It represents 1.5 TBSP / 7.5g worth of loose leaf ingredients.
Use this line when making a tumbler full of tea. (30oz)
This line on the filter represents 6 tbsp (45g) of coarse grounds, which makes a balanced coffee with a 14:1 Water:Grounds ratio by weight.
The Max capacity for the filter is 3.25oz (92g) of coarsely ground coffee.
This makes a 2x strength concentrate, with a 7.25:1 Water:Grounds ratio by weight.
Fill the filter all the way up, and taste the bold flavors that only dreams are made of.
Frequently Asked Questions
Your drinks are conveniently accessible with our premium lid. We made this design choice because we fell in love with the magnetic slider, and its easy-to-clean properties.
Other lids always gathered stains under the hard-to-clean clasps and gaskets.
Note that if our brewer is fully inverted, some liquid will drip out before a vacuum forms, which seals it.
The filter can function with coarse or medium grinds (normal drip style grinds).
We have found that over-extraction is typically not an issue with cold brewing, and frequently use pre-ground medium grinds.
When hot-brewing, grind choice can be more relevant, and we recommend experimenting to see what tastes best for your roast.
It is common for a small bit of grounds at the top to float above the water. This is perfectly normal, and hardly affects brew strength.
However, if you want to soak 100% of your grounds, take these steps:
1. Add more water to 'top-off' your brew after letting the grounds soak for an initial few minutes. Sometimes we even fill the water over the lid mouthpiece because we know it will slowly go down.
2. Invert the brewer over the sink for 5-10sec to allow the water to soak into those grounds on top. It is best to turn the brewer fully upside down so that it can develop a seal and only leak a small amount of water.
Cold Brew coffee is 70% less acidic. The bolder flavors take charge and the acidic and light flavors get dominated. Because of this, we usually select darker, more powerful roasts.
That said, you can definitely use any roast you currently have at home!
No. About 2% of our Kold Brewers have this issue. Please contact our team for warranty support!
Built to Go.
Pack your brewer and some freshly ground coffee into your suitcase. Brewing amazing craft coffee has never been easier. Just make sure you keep it level - our magnetic slider will leak if the brewer is left on its side.
Hot Coffee in only 2.5 min.
We designed your brewer to make hot coffee as well. The process is the same as cold brewing, just use near-boiling water and gently swirl the brewer for 2.5 minutes. Once ready, remove the filter and enjoy. It is important to remove the filter after hot brews to avoid a bitter flavor from over-extraction.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR GEAR
Mastermind's Kōld Brewer looks amazing, and the 3XX cold-rolled stainless steel is strong. The paint, however, is delicate. Avoid tossing the brewer around and putting it into contact with other hard materials. Store the filter in the brewer when not in use to prevent denting.
All components of the brewer are dishwasher safe.
If you have issues, we're just a message away! All Mastermind products feature a lifetime warranty.
